Aviation Medicine (AVMED) – Refresher Training

Cabin crew members are equipped with first aid kits and medicines onboard, enabling them to provide immediate treatment when needed. They are also trained to utilize emergency equipment, such as defibrillators and supplemental oxygen bottles. The primary responsibilities of a cabin crew member are:

• Assessing and observing the condition of passengers or crew members.
• Identifying any illnesses or injuries.
• Administering the appropriate treatment promptly.
• Taking necessary measures to prevent the condition from worsening and promoting recovery until arrival at the destination, where further medical assistance can be provided.

In addition to these responsibilities, cabin crew members are trained to handle various emergency situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of all onboard. Their dedication and preparedness play a vital role in providing the highest level of care to passengers during flights.

In this refresher course, we cover Cabin Crew First Aid. This First Aid is the application of accepted treatment principles to individuals involved in accidents or experiencing sudden illnesses, utilizing available facilities and materials. The objective of First Aid is to sustain life and alleviate pain and suffering until the patient can be placed under the care of a doctor or hospital.
