Our little planet is home to some of the most humbling, awe-inspiring natural scenery and environments. Some of the most incredible scenery this world has to offer is its many lakes. With that, many settlements have been constructed around some of these lakes, making for some rather cosy places to be in. Lake-side settlements are something that many can find peace in and is something that many folks love the idea of. We are going to look at a few of the most recommended places to visit.
Lago di Braies Lake, Italy
This turquoise-green lake, nestled in the enchanted woods of the Val Pusteria, offers tranquillity and adventure. It is arguably one of the most beautiful Alpine lakes in South Tyrol and lies at the foot of Mount Croda del Becco. While the privilege of being there amidst the natural beauty it has to offer is enough reason to go, there are other activities to do there. There is no settlement directly along the banks of the lake but there are settlements nearby, one even being within walking distance from the lake. Minimal man-made structures can be found around the perimeter of the lake to add to the innocent atmosphere. A very popular activity to do here is hiking! It takes people an average of two hours, depending on how quick you are, to conquer the perimeter of this lake. Aside from that, those who enjoy a calmer and ambience-filled experience should consider taking a small canoe out into the lake!
Vorderer Lake, Austria
This incredible mountain lake in the Upper Austrian part of the Salzkammergut is the largest of the three lakes situated in the town of Gosau. With a view of the magnificent glaciers in the distance, with its symmetrical image reflected in the lake, being here feels as if being encapsulated in an awe-inspiring house of mirrors that invokes calmness and solitude. Vorderer Lake is a regularly visited site for hikers, while also welcoming swimmers into its calm, clear waters. For those who prefer a less mobile experience, fishing is another popular activity here. The water here is said to be of drinking quality, so plenty of fish species are to be expected swimming around here. All in all, Vorderer Lake has much to offer the eager travel enthusiast and the solitude pursuer alike.
Lucerne, Switzerland
Switzerland is home to some of the most beautiful natural masterpieces this world has to offer, so choosing one lake in the whole country won’t do much justice, but Lucerne Lake is just about worthy of filling those shoes. With a population of over 200,000 people, you can expect to bump into many friendly faces during a trip here. However, don’t think that this large population takes away from the charm that seemingly can’t escape this land. Lucerne is the name of the city that finds itself around the lap. Enjoy a wide variety of activities here, including hiking (of course), kayaking, and trying out the delicacies the many restaurants and cafes have to offer. This is, like many places in Switzerland, a place that simply must be visited. With many hotels and other places to stay along the shores of the lake, you can rest assured knowing that you’ll often have an incredible view no matter where you might find yourself there.
There’s something truly special about lakes, and they offer a rather amazing experience. If you find yourself in a position to travel, visiting some of these lakeside settlements is highly recommended. The world has a lot more to offer than what was mentioned here, and its up to you to experience it all.
